St. John's pipe organ was installed in the new sanctuary in January of 1928. The instrument has served the congregation well, however it is presently in need of restoration. The organ is E.M. Skinner Opus 628, a 3 Manual 34 stop, 29 rank instrument. There have been two major repair projects in the last 25 years. One involved a console update and the other involved work in the pipe chambers. The organ at St; John's is one of four Ernest M. Skinner organs installed in the Richmond area, and it is the only organ that remains in its original location. |
